Vaping, a trendy and new way to get nicotine, the addictive component in tobacco, is a popular alternative to smoking. An electronic cigarette essentially is an electronic device which simulates smoking tobacco. It usually includes a battery, an atomizer, and a container like a tank or cartridge. Vapers inhale vapor, not tobacco. The act of using an electronic cigarette is commonly called “vaping”.
Vapors pose many health risks, including the possibility of cancer-causing agents if inhaled. Experts believe that vaporization could actually promote smoker’s lung disease. The vapor does not contain any chemicals or tar and is therefore very similar to what a person might get from smoking cigarettes. Some vaporized products have contained actual chemicals in several cases. This has led to concerns among consumers as to what electronic cigarettes are putting into their bodies.
The risks of lung damage over time are one of the first concerns. One substance found in vapor products is asbestos. It is expected that this problem will get worse as electronic cigarettes are more widely used in many parts of the globe.
Vaping is closely linked to quitting smoking because it eliminates the need for smokers to take a specific medication. To quit smoking, smokers must take a variety of medications, including Zyban (the pill) and nicotine replacement therapies (like Zyban (the patch). As many as four of these pills a day is needed for a long-term quit. This means that many patients need to continue to take these medications in order for them to quit.
Electronic cigarettes do not contain nicotine, which means that there is no reason to continue using them. They are not addictive. Studies that have focused on the chemical composition of e-juices have determined that the vast majority do not contain any addictive substances. Although there have been many reports of individuals experiencing cravings or withdrawal due to e-cigs use, these are likely to only occur when the product contains too high nicotine. An aerosol cigarettes can cause strong cravings, withdrawal symptoms, and even death if they contain a low amount nicotine.
The second area in which the dangers of Vaping are linked to is the risk of heart disease. Tobacco use and other diseases are responsible for over 21,000 deaths each year in the United States. E-Cigs have been shown to significantly reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke by as much as 40%. Research suggests that Vaping, which does not expose the body and brain to carcinogens, plays a significant role in this reduction. E-Cigs make it possible to avoid secondhand smoking and may make it easier to quit.
The tobacco industry would not be interested in any of these issues if there wasn’t one additional problem that comes with Vaping: addiction. E-Cigs can cause addiction in the same way as regular cigarettes and cigars. This problem is related to the fact that unlike regular cigarettes and cigars, E-Cigarette users do not take in any of the tar or nicotine through the lungs. Instead, they take in their drug of preference through the nasal passage, mouth and stomach. Because of this, E-Cig users may develop a higher tolerance to the drug than those who regularly partake in smoking.
While the use of E-Cigs has significantly reduced the rate at which people start smoking, this does not necessarily mean that there are no health effects associated with this new method of getting nicotine. E-Cigs have a number of health risks, so people should make sure they only use non-E cigarette cigarettes and never take up E Cigs. At the very least, it is important to understand the health effects associated with E-Cigs and to be prepared in case they prove to be an inconvenience or even a dangerous substitute. It is clear that E-Cigs will become less popular as people learn more about the many health benefits and are willing to give up the risks associated with regular cigarettes.
